Invisalign clear aligners are a discrete way of improving the alignment of your teeth, resolving crowding or spacing and addressing certain bite issues. Both our lead dentists have recently had Invisalign treatments themselves and needless to say they are very happy with the results.
Average treatment time is approximately 4-24 months dependent on each case. Aligners are worn for 22 hours/day, they are changed every 7 days allowing for incremental, gentle teeth movements. Aligners are removed for eating, drinking and brushing of the teeth.
Here at Chapel Hill Dental, Invisalign can be used as a stand alone treatment or in conjunction with whitening and bonding in makeover cases. We are keen to keep treatment conservative, in certain instances composite bonding may be a consideration. We utilise the ABB system as explained below.
- Align the teeth using clear aligners

- Bond (composite bonding to improve the aesthetics/shape/size/symmetry of the teeth)
THE PROCESS
A consultation is the first step in the process, your dentist will need to assess your suitability for Invisalign clear aligners. Invisalign is the leading market provider world wide and has transformed millions of smiles. It is a very versatile treatment method and is very effective, of course there may be specific cases where a specialist orthodontist referral may be required if there are any complexities.
Once you have had your assessment, your dentist will give you a full breakdown of costings. All patients who are starting Invisalign treatment will need to a have full examination and dental radiographs to ensure they are dentally fit and any treatment needed is completed prior to starting Invisalign treatment.
A 3d scan and photographs are taken after which Invisalign can formulate a Clincheck for you to consider. A Clincheck is a 3d smile simulation which shows your teeth moving week by week, once you have decided to go ahead the Invisalign is ordered and then approximately 2 weeks later it can be fitted. Monthly reviews are required for monitoring progress and compliance.
Once you have completed your Invisalign treatment retention is key, overnight retainers are essential to prevent any relapse. You will be given 3 sets of retainers which will last you 3 years.

- 3D Digital scan & Clincheck to show the proposed final outcome
- Hygiene appointment for a full scale and polish prior to treatment
- 3 sets of removable Vivera overnight retainers (these should last for 3 years)
- Fixed retainers (optional)
